KORN: 'Evolution' Video To Be Filmed This Week
June 11, 2007KORN will film a video for the first single, "Evolution", off its upcoming untitled album, on Friday, June 15 in the Los Angeles area. Since the band will be on the road in Europe during this time, it is believed that they will not appear in the actual clip. Directing the video will be Dave Meyers, who previously worked with KORN on the clip for "Twisted Transistor".
According to the "Evolution" casting call sheet, the video will be "filled with political satire and humor."
The production team is seeking mostly male actors to play such characters as "hero scientists," religious politicians, doctors, green peace guys, anthropologists, military men and "government types."
Cast interviews will be held Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13.
On the topic of the "Evolution" single, KORN frontan Jonathan Davis recently said, "'Evolution' is about us as a human race. We have not evolved since monkeys. Animals and humans are pretty much the same. Look at this war we're fighting; we're the bullies — same shit in the monkey world."
KORN's eighth studio album is scheduled for release on July 31 via Virgin Records. The CD was produced by KORN's "See You On The Other Side" producer Atticus Ross (Ross is also known for his revolutionary work with NIN). In releasing an album with no title singer Jonathan Davis commented, "We didn't want to label this album. It has no boundaries; it has no limits and why not just let our fans call it whatever they wanna call it?"
This is the fourth album (the second studio) to be released through the ground-breaking partnership among KORN and Virgin Records established in 2005 by EMI, and the Firm to create a diversified business relationship operating KORN's recording, publishing, touring, sponsorship and merchandising businesses. In 2006, tour promotion giant Live Nation, which promotes the Family Values tour, became an investor in the partnership.
Los Angeles modern rock radio station KROQ recently gave "Evolution", the album's first single, its world premiere and the band gave its 550,000+ friends on MySpace the opportunity to hear it for themselves. The "Evolution" live debut took place at this year's KROQ Weenie Roast -y- Fiesta.
KORN will return to the States in time for this year's Family Values Tour, which launches on July 20t in St. Louis, MO. KORN, along with management company The Firm, created and headlined The Family Values Tour in 1998 and last year's triumphant return outing was an extraordinary success, setting attendance records at numerous venues and selling over 400,000 tickets total. KORN and EVANESCENCE will co-headline this year's festival, which also features ATREYU, FLYLEAF, HELLYEAH (featuring members of PANTERA and MUDVAYNE),and TRIVIUM on the main stage. With David Silveria on hiatus, SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison will be playing drums for KORN on the tour; Terry Bozzio played drums on the new album.
